Barriers to Station Access

This map has been closed for comment since February 14, 2019. Please see additional detail below and previous comments on the map.

The I-405 BRT Project includes funding to improve non-motorized access (like cycling, walking, etc.) near our BRT facilities. We have worked with local jurisdictions to identify the following barriers to accessing the future BRT station locations:

  • Missing link/lack of network
  • Wide roadway
  • Inadequate lighting
  • Parking lots blocking access
  • Impediments to ADA access
  • Lack of pedestrian crossing infrastructure

Each map includes a radius of .5 miles around the BRT stations. This distance was selected as it provides an approximate 10-minute walk to a station depending on access and topography. Sound Transit will work with our local and regional partners to evaluate potential improvements that address these barriers.
